Abstract: ABSTRACT: Currently, an increasing number of people are facing death due to chronic or progressive diseases. This reality has led to a significant rise in the number of terminally ill patients in hospitals, reflecting not only the progression of conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, but also the quality of care provided. The study aimed to investigate the relevance of health assistance for patients in palliative care through national publications. This was a bibliographic research conducted in the LILACS and SCIELO databases. A total of 39 articles were found using the descriptors: multidisciplinary interventions, comfort care, pain management, and comprehensive care. After applying the eligibility criteria namely, articles published in Portuguese, complete, indexed in the mentioned databases, covering the period from 2015 to 2024, and fully addressing the topic 13 articles were included in this study. The results highlighted that health professionals are essential in developing strategies that provide comfort and well-being to patients, in addition to alleviating pain and suffering, and aligning more suitable therapeutic possibilities for each patient. It was concluded that the assistance provided to patients in palliative care is highly relevant and essential. Furthermore, there is a need for health professionals to practice ethically and holistically, focusing on physical, biological, psychological, and social care.
