ASPECTOS CLÍNICOS E PREVENTIVOS RELACIONADOS ÀS DOENÇAS PERIODONTAIS: UMA REVISÃO DA LITERATURA
A doença periodontal é a segunda patologia bucal mais prevalente no mundo. Constitui-se de um processo inflamatório bacteriano no tecido periodontal que resulta do acúmulo de placa dentária na superfície externa do dente. Sua patogênese pode provocar a destruição das estruturas de sustentação do dente. A prevenção dessa patologia é baseada principalmente no controle de placa e cálculo ao redor dos dentes. O objetivo deste estudo é demonstrar, por meio de uma revisão da literatura, os aspectos clínicos e preventivos relevantes relacionados às doenças periodontais.

Abstract:
Periodontal disease is the second most prevalent oral disease in the world. It consists of a bacterial inflammatory process in the periodontal tissue that results from the accumulation of dental plaque on the external surface of the tooth. Its pathogenesis can cause the destruction of the tooth's support structures. The prevention of this pathology is based mainly on the control of plaque and calculus around the teeth. The aim of this study is to demonstrate, through a literature review, the relevant clinical and preventive aspects related to periodontal diseases.
