Arquitetura moderna do século XX, em São Luís: identificação; mapeamento e análise tipológica dos projetos comerciais, realizados pelo arquiteto Carlos Alberto Braga Diniz.
O advento do movimento moderno, trouxe para o mundo mudanças nos modos de fazer arquitetura que revolucionaram as construções mundiais, com novas técnicas, materiais, ideias e formas. É baseado nos conceitos deste movimento, bem como nos seus principais nomes, tais quais Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright e tantos outros, que Carlos Alberto Braga Diniz inicia sua obra como arquiteto na cidade de São Luís, capital do estado do Maranhão. Nascido em 30/09/1932 e falecido em 08/05/2005, formou-se no Rio de Janeiro, porém, foi na cidade de São Luís que obteve seu apogeu na arquitetura do período moderno, a partir de 1960, com projetos de edificações, residenciais, institucionais e comerciais, sendo esta o foco desta pesquisa. A pesquisa teve por objetivo, o levantamento das obras comerciais de Braga Diniz em São Luís, no intuito de trazer à tona a importância de suas obras no contexto do moderno da cidade, suas principais características construtivas, a maneira do arquiteto de projetar, a forma como resistem até os dias atuais e as mudanças sofridas no decorrer do tempo, isto por meio de fotos, entrevistas e pesquisas bibliográficas.

Abstract:
The advent of the modern movement, brang to the world changes in the ways of making architecture that revolutionized the buildings of the world, with new techniques, materials, ideas and forms. It’s based in the concepts of this movement, as well as in its main names, just like Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and many others, that Carlos Alberto Braga Diniz beggins his work as an architect in the city of São Luís, capital of the state of Maranhão. Born in 30/09/1932 and deceased in 08/05/2005, he graduated in Rio de Janeiro, however, was in the city of São Luís that he got his heyday in modern architetcture, beginning in the 60’s, with residential, institutional and comercial projects, being that last one the focus of this research. The research had as goal, the investigation of the comercial buildings of Braga Diniz in São Luís, with the intention of gring up the real importance of his work in the modern context in the city, it’s mains constructives characteristics, the way the architect did Project, how the buildings resist till nowadays and the changes suffered as the time past,and this by photographs, interviews and bibliography research.
