Abstract: This paper proposes a guided tour of the Earth Science Museum as an exploration of non-formal spaces in the chemistry teaching-learning process in the light of Bandura's social cognitive theory. Learning through observation and social interaction is one of the key points of this proposal, which brings the sciences closer to their true object of study: the reality that surrounds us. Science museums are rich in demonstrations, practical activities and interactive exhibitions. In the case of the museum studied in this paper, its exhibitions explore various chemistry and science subjects more broadly, and are effective forms of observational learning. The proposed methodology involves the application of a questionnaire as a diagnostic assessment, a visit to the earth science museum and a new questionnaire after the visit. It is hoped that this will strengthen the teaching of chemistry and science in general and apply it not as a mere memorization of formulas, but as a tool for social transformation and scientific literacy. The proposal also opens up possibilities for inter/transdisciplinary work and provides new educational incentive strategies.
