Abstract: Currently, there is a growing interest in the use of Phase Change Materials (PCMs - Phase Change Materials) applied to construction elements, with the aim of reducing the thermal inertia of buildings. Phase Change Materials are able to absorb and dissipate large amounts of thermal energy over cycles and this change can occur throughout their lifetime. In view of the increasing application of these materials, this work presents a brief review of the application of PCMs in floors, walls, slabs, glass, among other stages within a construction. In view of the above, there is a tendency to reduce the temperature when the PCM is inserted inside the material, however, so that the use of the material can be applied more and more, analyzes of the thermal, mechanical behavior, long-term financial viability must be studied for real large-scale application.
