• Abstract: The newspaper El Universo, a national newspaper in Ecuador, is the focus of this study, which aims to analyze the structure of the news they use to disseminate news events. To substantiate the state of the art, bibliographic research was implemented in the review of scientific content. Furthermore, documentary research and the case study allowed El Universo to be selected as the object of study. Using the analytical method, the newspaper and the structure of its news are examined. Subsequently, the statistical method was used to tabulate and present the data. The results of the analysis indicate that the newspaper El Universo prefers the journalistic genre of the news for the treatment of information."
