Abstract: ABSTRACT Infant dermatitis refers to a group of inflammatory skin diseases that affect infants and young children, characterized by lesions such as erythema, pruritus, scaling, and crusting. Atopic dermatitis is the most common form and is associated with skin barrier dysfunctions, genetic predisposition, and immune imbalances. Traditional treatment relies on the use of topical corticosteroids, which, although effective, carry the risk of adverse effects, especially on sensitive infant skin. As a result, there is growing interest in safe and effective therapeutic alternatives. In this context, active ingredients such as Ectoin®, D-Panthenol, and Physavie® have demonstrated moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and skin barrier-restoring properties. These compounds act by stabilizing cell structures, modulating inflammatory pathways, and stimulating the production of structural skin proteins, offering a promising therapeutic approach for managing dermatitis in children with a lower risk of side effects.
