Abstract: Based on some poems from Poesia + by Edimilson de Almeida Pereira, this paper aims to address the tensions between the author's poetry and the tradition of Brazilian literature and the prevailing poetic dictions of today, with the aim of demonstrating how his work stages the conflicts and/or challenges taking place in the field of Brazilian poetry in the 21st century. It is proposed that there are three lines of force, with their own ethical and aesthetic configurations, that stand out and around which recent poetic production orbits. Pereira's poetry occupies a space between these divergent poles, presenting itself, at the same time, aesthetically in tune with tradition and involved with contemporary ethical problems, by addressing issues of race, gender and class.
