  • Abstract:

    Urinary lithiasis is a pathological

    condition of multifactorial phenomena resulting

from the formation of hardened solid crystals

due to the concentration of substances normally

excreted in the urine, such as calcium, oxalate

and uric acid, which can cause any part of

the urinary tract . Thus, the objective was to

review and analyze the impact of preventive

measures in the nutritional scope that may have

repercussions in order to reduce the incidence

and relapse of renal lithiasis. This is a systematic

review of the nutritional recommendations for the prevention and recurrence of urolithiasis

performed in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDILINE /

PUBMED), in Latin American and Caribbean Literature (LILACS), and in the Scientific

Electronic Library Online (SciELO), using the terms: prevention, urolithiasis and renal

diet. The selection met the inclusion / exclusion criteria previously listed. Twenty-two

articles were selected, among which 10 fulfilled the requirements. Studies show that

dietary modifications and incentives to a balanced diet reduce the prevalence of urinary

calculi and play an important role in prevention, as it attenuates the development of

morbidities that are determinant for high rates of nephrolithiasis. Therefore, adequate

food and water intake is essential for the control of renal lithiasis prevention, as well

as the reduction in relapse rates, so it is up to the health professionals, especially

the nutritionist, to guide in an individualized manner, respecting the eating habits and

taking into account the metabolic disorder.
