Abstract: A Persian cat, female, neutered, weighing 3.20 kg and approximately 9 years and 2 months old. When seen for the first time, the patient had already been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and had a history of vomiting, accompanied by the expulsion of hairballs and decreased appetite. Initially, the additional tests requested were a blood count, serum chemistry, abdominal radiography and ultrasound, urinalysis and echocardiogram. No changes were observed in the blood count, however serum biochemistry tests revealed a slight increase in creatinine (1.7 mg/dL). Ultrasonography revealed the presence of cysts in the kidneys. In the results of the urinalysis, which was performed by cystocentesis, the presence of proteinuria (30mg/dL) and the presence of red blood cells in the urine (15 p/c) were observed. The echocardiogram revealed an abnormal thickness in the free wall of the left ventricle, suggesting a possible initial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy without significant changes in hemodynamics, making it necessary to monitor the patient's condition. After analyzing the complementary exams, the veterinarian concluded that as a carrier of PKD, the patient was still stable and in good general health and considering that polycystic kidney disease does not have specific therapy and is irreversible, it was decided to institute the use of the supplement Ograx-3 500 orally, as it has beneficial effects on renal activity, stimulates appetite and inhibits emesis. The tutor was instructed to do this every 4 months to monitor the evolution of the disease and evaluate the patient's clinical condition. It can be inferred that PKD is a disease of great importance in clinical medicine and can lead to chronic conditions.
