Abstract: Falls in the elderly represent a global health challenge, with serious physical and psychological repercussions. This review addressed current prevention approaches, highlighting the effectiveness of physical exercise and perturbation-based balance training. The integrative literature review covered studies published between 2022 and 2023, selecting 113 articles that discussed fall prevention strategies in the elderly. Although these strategies have shown significant benefits in reducing falls and improving balance, their implementation is still limited. Home adaptations and multidimensional interventions were also discussed as promising but require further research to support their effectiveness. Reviewed studies showed high feasibility and effectiveness of balance training programs but emphasized the need for individualized approaches. Research emphasized the importance of multifaceted, evidence-based strategies to address the growing challenge of falls in the elderly. The effective implementation of these strategies is crucial to reduce the impact of falls on the elderly population and improve quality of life.
