ABCESSO DENTÁRIO COMPLICADO: UM RELATO DE CASO
Este relato aborda um caso de uma adolescente de 10 anos de idade, que apresentou um quadro inicial de dor e edema em toda a hemiface esquerda associada a presença de febre e vômitos e, posteriormente, sinais flogísticos periorbitários ipsilateral as queixas referidas. A partir do exame físico, evidenciou-se infecção de foco odontogênico com coleção periapical relacionada aos achados em exame de imagem, revelando inflamação de seios nasais em toda a hemiface acometida. A criança foi enviada para drenagem em centro cirúrgico do foco odontológico e de região periorbitária somada a antibioticoterapia, não apresentando quaisquer sequelas. As infecções dos espaços fasciais ocorrem em qualquer idade e gênero. Suas causas são multifatoriais, sendo uma delas a partir de um foco odontogênico. Uma vez constatado abscesso dentoalveolar, deve-se tentar a conservação do elemento dental por meio da sanificação dos condutos radiculares e/ou raspagem e, quando não for possível, a exodontia do elemento envolvido deve ser realizada.
Rotineiramente a higiene bucal é negligenciada com enfoque na faixa etária infantil e este trabalho tem como objetivo principal reforçar a importância desta como hábito ou procedimento diário, seja em qualquer faixa, principalmente na adolescência, reduzindo a chance patologias evitáveis com medidas simples de cuidados essenciais.

Abstract:
This report addresses a case of a 10-year-old adolescent, who presented an initial picture of pain and edema in the entire left hemiface associated with the presence of fever and vomiting and, subsequently, periorbital phlogistic signs ipsilateral to the referred complaints. From the physical examination, infection of the odontogenic focus with periapical collection related to the findings on imaging examination was evidenced, revealing inflammation of the nasal sinuses throughout the affected hemiface. The child was sent for drainage in the operating room of the dental center and in the periorbital region plus antibiotic therapy, without any sequelae. Infections of the fascial spaces occur at any age and gender. Its causes are multifactorial, one of them from an odontogenic focus. Once a dentoalveolar abscess is found, the preservation of the dental element must be attempted by sanitizing the root canal and / or scraping and, when this is not possible, extraction of the involved element must be performed.
Routine oral hygiene is neglected with a focus on the child age group and this work has as main objective to reinforce its importance as a daily habit, be it in any age group, mainly in adolescence, reducing the chance of preventable pathologies with simple essential care measures.
