Abstract: This article presents the results of an applied study on the use of assistive technology as a tool for promoting equity in the workplace, focusing on the region of the Associação dos Municípios da Região Carbonífera (AMREC), in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The research aimed to understand how the adoption of assistive technologies contributes to the professional inclusion of persons with disabilities, considering the limitations and potentialities of public policies, organizational practices, and the rights ensured by legal frameworks such as the Brazilian Law of Inclusion. The methodology employed combined quantitative and qualitative approaches, including data collection from 40 medium and large-sized companies, document analysis, and literature review. The findings indicate that, despite legal advancements and positive reports regarding the use of assistive technology, structural and institutional barriers persist, limiting its effective implementation, such as the lack of inclusive planning and insufficient technical training. It is concluded that promoting equity requires not only legal compliance but also the development of an accessible and intersectoral organizational culture. The research reaffirms the relevance of assistive technology as a strategic vector for productive inclusion and the strengthening of social justice in the labor market.
