Abstract: Rubem Fonseca, before starting his career as a writer, became involved with an organic group of intellectuals from the Institute of Social Researches and Studies (IPES), which the members were the protagonists in the toppling of João Goular in 1964. Twelve years later, in 1976, Fonseca was a victim of the censorship fury that banned the circulation of his book "Feliz Ano novo" (1975). This article analyzes the aspects that led to the banning of his book and how Fonseca became a victim of a speech that, in a certain way, aided to forge the anti-communist speech.
