Abstract: This article aimed to understand how managerialism is evidenced in work relationships and in the trajectory of students as subjects-researchers in Higher Education Institutions (specifically in stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs), identifying the implications for their mental health that arise from this management method widely applied in education. We seek to understand the relationship between the meaning of work and the subjectivity of the subject-researcher in the role of stricto sensu postgraduate student, referring to the performance of the activities that are incumbent upon them. Finally, we seek to find out if the work experiences of the subjects surveyed evoke subjective experiences that cause mental health implications, and what are the strategies developed to face these (possible) experiences. We chose the premises described in the qualitative and field approach, carrying out semi-structured interviews with master's and doctoral students and collecting documentary data on the websites of CNPq, CAPES, MEC, Universities, among others, related to education and stricto sensu post-graduation. We structured the investigations based on the premises of managerialism and on the theoretical-methodological foundations of Psychosociology of Work and Psychodynamics of Work. Based on the results and on the analyses, we found a probable relationship between the interviewed masters and doctoral students' suffering and psychic illness and the confrontations of the managerial harassers, present in the guidelines that structure and maintain stricto sensu postgraduate programs.
