Abstract: Teaching in Professional and Technological Education (ETC) in Brazil presents issues that demand from teachers knowledge that enables students to have a training that is not limited to a technical training linked to mere training, but that is directed by a broader conception of teaching in the current context. This study aimed to analyze the teaching practice in Professional and Technological Education in Brazil. A bibliographic review was carried out with journal articles published in electronic scientific databases and on official websites maintained on the Internet, legislation related to the theme, reports and proceedings of symposia and congress. It was found that the duality in Professional and Technological Education is a consequence of a historical-social process, since society has been developing and organizing itself in the capitalist mode of production, resulting in a divided and fragmented education. Therefore, the challenges in teaching practice are enormous, requiring incentive policies, with coherent, systematic and organized implementation.
