A NEW SPECIES OF TAPACULO (RHINOCRYPTIDAE: SCYTALOPUS) FROM THE SOUTHERN END OF THE WORLD. NAVARINO ISLAND, CHILE
O Scytalopus magellanicus ou em linguagem yagano é o “Tutu”, um Rhinocryptidae geral da região sul do fim do mundo como em outras latitudes do território do Chilen é Argentina. Nesse estudo postulamos que o Tapacú Magellanic da ilha Navarino deve ser uma outra especie do gênero Scytalopus. Achamos que a plumagem do Tapacú Magellanic juvenil, é diferente das outras aves da mesma especie de outras latitudes no Chile e na Argentina. Propomos um novo nome taxonômico como Scytalopus antarcticum [Navarino Tapaculo (inglês), Churrín de Navarino (espahol), Copriculo di Navarino (Itália), Navarinotapacul (Alemão), Tapacú por Navarino (português) ou Mérulaxe du Navarino (francés)].

Abstract:
The Scytalopus magellanicus or language Yagan is “Tutu”, is a generalist Rhinocryptidae in the southern end of the world in Navarino Island, Cape Horn Chile as in other latitudes of the territory of Chile and Argentina. In this study we postulate that Magellanic Tapaculo in Navarino Island should be another specie of the genus Scytalopus. We found out that the plumage of the juvenile Magellanic Tapaculo is different from other specimen of the same species in other latitude in Chile and in Argentina. We propose a new taxonomic name of Magellanic Tapaculo of Navarino Island: Scytalopus antarcticum [Navarino Tapaculo, (English), Churrín de Navarino (Spanish), Copriculo di Navarino (Italian), Navarinotapacul (Germany), Tapacú por Navarino (Português) or Mérulaxe du Navarino (French)].
