A (NÃO) EXISTÊNCIA DO LIMITE DE UMA FUNÇÃO: UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE AS IMAGENS CONCEITUAIS DE ESTUDANTES EM UM CURSO DE CÁLCULO
Objetivamos com esse trabalho
levantar discussões acerca de dificuldades que
estudantes apresentam sobre o conceito de
limite de uma função. Nossas considerações
sobre tais dificuldades são baseadas em
pesquisas anteriores realizadas nesse âmbito,
em nossas experiências na docência da
disciplina Cálculo I e, também, em nossas
investigações acerca dessa temática, cujas
análises foram realizadas com o intuito de
inquirir sobre as imagens conceituais dos
sujeitos pesquisados no que concerne ao
conceito de limite. Nesse artigo, elucidamos
as imagens conceituais de dois estudantes
de um curso de Cálculo materializadas por
meio das relações que eles efetivaram entre a
(não) existência do limite, (des) continuidade
e indeterminações. Para isso, destacamos e
analisamos trechos de entrevistas realizadas
com os sujeitos investigados. Dentre as
dificuldades evidenciadas na investigação,
ressaltamos aquelas voltadas para as
evocações dos sujeitos que condicionaram a
existência do limite à continuidade e à ausência
de indeterminação.

Abstract:
Our aim with this paper was to
raise discussions related to students’ dificulties
in learning the concept of limit of a function. Our
considerations about such difficulties were based
on previous researches, in our experiences as
Calculus teachers, as well as our investigations
about this theme, whose analysis were made
with the aim of inquire about the investigated
subjects’ concept images concerning to the
limit concept. In this paper, we show the
concept image of two students, materialized
through the relation they established between
the (non)existance of the limit, (dis)continuity
and indeterminations. For that, we present and
analyze parts of the interviews that were made
with these students. We observed difficulties
related to evocations that conditioned the limit
existence to the continuity of the function and to
the absence of indeterminations.
