A INTERSEÇÃO DA CULTURA ASPECTOS INDIVIDUAIS NA POPULAÇÃO TRANSGÊNERO
Cada um de nós é uma pessoa única, que tem características comuns a toda a humanidade. Elas nos identificam com alguns e nos tornam diferentes de outros. Desde criança somos ensinados a agir e a ter uma determinada aparência, de acordo com o seu sexo biológico. Crescemos sendo ensinados que “homens são assim e mulheres são assado”, porque “é da sua natureza”, e costumamos realmente observar isso na sociedade. Entretanto, o fato é que a grande diferença que percebemos entre homens e mulheres é construída socialmente, desde o nascimento, quando meninos e meninas são ensinados a agir de acordo como são identificadas, a ter um papel de gênero “adequado”. Como as influências sociais não são totalmente visíveis, parece para nós que as diferenças entre homens e mulheres são naturais, totalmente biológicas, quando, na verdade, parte delas é influenciada pelo convívio social. Sexo é biológico, gênero é social. E o gênero vai além do sexo: O que importa, na definição do que é ser homem ou mulher, não são os cromossomos ou a conformação genital, mas a auto percepção e a forma como a pessoa se expressa socialmente. Para algumas pessoas, a vivência de um gênero discordante do sexo é uma questão de identidade, é o caso das pessoas conhecidas como travestis, e das transexuais, que são tratadas, coletivamente, como parte do grupo chamado de transgênero.

Abstract:
Each of us is a unique person, who has characteristics common to all humanity. They identify us with some and make us different from others. Since we were children we are taught to act and to look certain, according to your biological sex. We grew up being taught that "men are like that and women are roasted", because "it is their nature", and we tend to really observe that in society. However, the fact is that the big difference that we perceive between men and women is socially constructed, since birth, when boys and girls are taught to act as they are identified, to have an “appropriate” gender role. As social influences are not totally visible, it seems to us that the differences between men and women are natural, totally biological, when, in fact, part of them is influenced by social interaction. Sex is biological, gender is social. And gender goes beyond sex: What matters, in defining what it means to be a man or a woman, is not chromosomes or genital conformation, but self-perception and the way a person expresses himself socially. For some people, the experience of a gender that disagrees with sex is a matter of identity, it is the case of people known as transvestites, and transsexuals, who are treated, collectively, as part of the group called transgender.
