Abstract: Feminicide is an extreme manifestation of gender-based violence, reflecting unequal power relations between men and women. Publicizing this type of crime in de news media is essential to raise awareness in society, promote chance and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable. However, the (in)visibility of femicide in the media can contribute to its perpetuation, encourage reports and minimize the severity of the problem. In this context, this article aims to analyze how feminicide is approached by journalistic media, identifying possible factors that contribute to this (in)visibilty and proposing strategies for more responsible coverage, based on the assumption that journalism, in its social function as opinion leader, produces scenes of visibility that both include and exclude subjects. Recent studies show an increase in cases of domestic violence against women, requiring more comprehensive approaches to address this issue. In this study, of a qualitative nature, a methodology based on bibliographical research was adopted. The analysis of the media approaches to feminicide will allow us to identify more effective communication strategies in the future, aiming to raise awareness in society about the seriousness of gender-based violence and encourage a change in attitudes. It is understood that when news of feminicide is shared on news portals, its repercussion is usually greater than if it were brroadcast on television or in printed newspapers, for example. It is justified by driving positive social transformation, promoting a fairer society free from gender-based violence.
