A FOME E A POBREZA: UMA REFLEXÃO TEÓRICA
A exclusão social, a pobreza e a fome são fenômenos sociais mundiais tão antigos quanto o ideal pela busca de uma sociedade equitativa. Impressiona profundamente a sua face mais cruel: a fome como impossibilidade dos cidadãos de acessar a direitos sociais básicos, em virtude do processo de concentração de renda e acesso desigual às oportunidades na sociedade brasileira. Tratar o problema da fome como questão nacional e não como fatalidade individual é responsabilidade de toda sociedade e dos governos, nas suas esferas federal, estaduais e municipais. O objetivo desta pesquisa é fazer um compilamento teórico dos conceitos da fome e da pobreza discutidos por pesquisadores dos quais a geografia se apropria. Metodologicamente esta pesquisa foi realizada por meio de pesquisas bibliográficas, artigos científicos, órgãos internacionais e projetos governamentais. Se a definição do que seja a fome possui diversas interpretações, dentre elas a falta de alimento, o problema torna-se maior quando se trata de conceituar e entender o que é a pobreza, e como a forma de medição e avaliação são aspectos que dividem os estudiosos. Para tanto, esta pesquisa apresenta uma breve síntese destes conceitos discutidos pela ciência geográfica.

Abstract:
The social exclusion, poverty and famine are global social phenomena as old as the ideal of searching for an equitable society. Its most cruel face is deeply impressive: famine as the impossibility of citizens to access basic social rights, due to the process of income concentration, and the unequal access to opportunities in the Brazilian society. To treat the problem of famine as a national issue and not as an individual fatality is the responsability of the entire society, as well as the governments, in their dederal, state and municipal spheres. The aim of this research is to make a theoretical famine and poverty compilation concepts discussed by researchers of which Geography is appropriate. Methodologically, this research was carried out through bibliographic research, scientific articles, international bodies and government projects. If the definition of famine has several interpretations, among them the lack of food, the problem becomes greater when it comes to conceptualizing and understanding what famine is and how the way of measuring and evaluating it are aspects that divide scholars. Therefore, this research presents a brief synthesis of these concepts discussed by geographic science.
