A FISIOTERAPIA NA REABILITAÇÃO PÓS-OPERATÓRIA DA DOENÇA DO DISCO INTERVERTEBRAL TORACOLOMBAR DE GRAU CINCO EM CÃO DA RAÇA DACHSHUND: RELATO DE CASO
A doença do disco intervertebral (DDIV) é a maior causa de compressão medular que leva à paralisia de membros em cães. Os sinais clínicos variam conforme o grau de acometimento da medula espinhal, o tipo de lesão, a quantidade e localização do material no canal vertebral e o tempo decorrido do trauma, ocasionando desde uma hiperalgia até a plegia com perda de dor profunda. A fisioterapia veterinária é uma área em grande expansão, sendo escolhida por muitos médicos veterinários como método adjuvante no tratamento conservador e/ou pós-cirúrgico da DDIV. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar a fisioterapia veterinária como adjuvante de fundamental importância na recuperação pós-operatória da DDIV toracolombar, através do relato de um caso bem-sucedido, assim como revisar a literatura sobre o tema.

Abstract:
Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is the major cause of spinal cord compression that leads to limb paralysis in dogs. Clinical signs vary according to the degree of spinal cord involvement, the type of lesion, the amount of material and localisation in the spinal canal and the time since the trauma, ranging from hiperalgia to pledge with loss of deep pain perception. Physical therapy is an area in great expansion in the veterinary field, which has been chosen by many professionals as an adjunct method for the conservative treatment and/or post-surgical rehabilitation of IVDD. The purpose of this paper work is to present the physical therapy as an adjunct method of fundamental importance in postoperative recovery of thoracolumbar IVDD, by the report of a well succeeded case, as well as reviewing the literature on this subject.
