A DISTORÇÃO IDADE-SÉRIE NO BRASIL E AS PERSPECTIVAS PARA A FONOAUDIOLOGIA EDUCACIONAL
A Distorção Idade-Série (DI-S) refere-se ao atraso do escolar que, ao repetir um ano, passa a acompanhar uma turma mais jovem. Esse artigo analisa as taxas de DI-S nacionais e revisa a participação da Fonoaudiologia Educacional no sistema de ensino. Trata-se de um estudo do tipo ecológico, com dados fornecidos pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais no ano de 2018. A taxa de DI-S foi significativamente maior na rede pública e na zona rural. Esses resultados sinalizam a necessidade de maiores investimentos na rede pública de ensino considerando fatores que interferem na aprendizagem e no desenvolvimento pleno da criança e do adolescente. A partir da revisão contatou-se que os Fonoaudiólogos podem contribuir com a equipe escolar na promoção de saúde, prevenção e identificação de fatores epidemiológicos, bem como no planejamento de estratégias que potencializem o desempenho dos escolares e que favoreçam a relação família-escola.

Abstract:
The Age-Grade Distortion (A-GD) refers to the delay of the student who follows a younger class after repeating one year. This article analyzes the national A-GD rates and reviews the participation of Educational Speech Pathology and Audiology in the education system. This is an ecological study, with data provided by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research in 2018. The A-GD rate was significantly higher in the public system and in the rural area. These results signal the need for greater investments in the public school system considering factors that interfere with the learning and full development of children and adolescents. Based on the review, we found that speech therapists and audiologists could contribute to the school team in health promotion, prevention and identification of epidemiological factors, as well as in planning strategies that enhance student performance and that benefit the family-school relationship.
