A (des)classificação do gênero fantástico na arquitetura
O fantástico é, em sua essência,
um discurso de revelação que, pela hesitação
entre realidade e sonho, coloca em cheque
os critérios de criação. Estudar as obras
arquitetônicas pela dimensão do fantástico é
diferente de estudar as mesmas obras numa
perspectiva histórica. Tal dimensão permanece
ignorada como procedimento, geralmente
tomada por livre expressão do arquiteto como
artista. A arquitetura fantástica representa
uma forma de escapismo, assim como a arte
representa o refúgio da loucura. O fantástico e
o erudito estão em contraposição nos sistemas
de classificações, mas classificar não é uma
ação neutra, nem ingênua. Sugere-se que
o fantástico pode ser estudado como uma
categoria compositiva – e não excludente –
para os espaços da arquitetura e da cidade.

Abstract:
The fantastic is, in essence, a
revelation discourse that, by the hesitation
between reality and dream, puts in check the
criteria of creation. Studying the architectural
works by the fantastic perspective is different
from studying the same works in a historical
perspective. Such a dimension remains ignored
as a procedure, usually taken by the free
expression of the architect as an artist. Fantastic
architecture represents a form of escapism,
just as art represents the refuge of madness.
The fantastic and the scholar are in contrast
in the classification systems, but classifying
is neither neutral or naive. It is suggested that
the fantastic can be studied as a compositional
category – and not exclusive – for the spaces of
architecture and city.
