A ACUPUNTURA NO TRATAMENTO DA FIBROMIALGIA – UM ESTUDO SISTÊMICO
Contextualização: A fibromialgia (FM) é caracterizada por dor musculoesquelética generalizada, além de rigidez, fadiga, distúrbios do sono e humor, alterações funcionais e ansiedade. Seu diagnóstico é baseado no exame clínico de 18 tender points pré-estabelecidos pelo American College of Rheumatology (ACR) e o seu tratamento é por meio de terapia farmacológica e não-farmacológica, como por exemplo a Acupuntura. Para a Medicina Tradicional Chinesa, a FM está relacionada as Síndromes dos meridianos Yin Qiao Mai e Yang Qiao Mai, ou às síndromes do Fígado, Baço-pâncreas e Rim. Objetivo: Essa pesquisa desenvolveu um estudo sistêmico sobre a aplicação da acupuntura no tratamento da FM, apresentando os pontos mais utilizados para o seu tratamento. Método: Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foram selecionados 19 artigos, publicados entre os anos de 2011 a 2021, nas bases de dados eletrônicos indexadas na Capes Periódicos, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde BVS/Bireme, Google Acadêmico, Scirus for Scientific Information – ScienceDirect e Scielo, e seguindo os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos para essa pesquisa. Resultados: Dentro da literatura científica selecionada, os artigos apresentaram dados controversos, pois alguns estudos apontaram a efetividade do tratamento, apresentando protocolos de pontos para equilibrar os sintomas da FM, e outros não. Conclusões: A acupuntura pode ser eficaz na redução da dor, melhora do sono e qualidade de vida, entretanto, ainda há necessidade de novas pesquisas a fim de esclarecer algumas divergências em relação à protocolos aplicados e metodologias de desenvolvimento de estudos, pois considera-se o tratamento individualizado e estimado pelo terapeuta. Com a padronização de protocolos e metodologias, será possível ampliar o uso terapêutico da acupuntura nos tratamentos de pacientes com FM.

Abstract:
Background: Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain, in addition to stiffness, fatigue, sleep and mood disturbances, functional alterations, and anxiety. Its diagnosis is based on the clinical examination of 18 tender points pre-established by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and its treatment is by pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, such as acupuncture. For Traditional Chinese Medicine, FM is related to the Yin Qiao Mai and Yang Qiao Mai meridian syndromes, or the Liver, Spleen-Pancreas and Kidney syndromes. Objective: This investigation developed a systemic study on the application of acupuncture in the treatment of FM, presenting the most commonly used points for its treatment. Methods: For the development of the research 19 articles were selected, published between the years 2011 to 2021, in the electronic databases indexed in Capes Periodicals, Virtual Health Library BVS/Bireme, Google Academic, Scirus for Scientific Information - ScienceDirect and Scielo, and following the inclusion criteria established for this investigation. Results: Within the selected scientific literature, the articles presented controversial data, as some studies pointed out the effectiveness of the treatment, presenting point protocols to balance the symptoms of FM, and others did not. Conclusions: Acupuncture can be effective in reducing pain, improving sleep and quality of life; however, there is still a need for further research in order to clarify some divergences regarding the protocols applied and methodologies of study development, since the treatment is considered individualized and estimated by the therapist. With the standardization of protocols and methodologies, it will be possible to expand the therapeutic use of acupuncture in the treatment of patients with FM.
