Abstract: In recent years, mental health has emerged as a growing public health challenge due to the high prevalence of disorders such as depression and generalized anxiety. In this context, telemedicine is emerging as an innovative tool for service delivery, particularly in primary care, and is a promising alternative for reducing disparities in access to healthcare. This integrative literature review sought to analyze the use of telemedicine in primary care for the management of psychiatric disorders, based on 24 selected articles. The results reveal that telepsychiatry, in its synchronous and asynchronous modalities, increases accessibility to mental health care and enables regular patient monitoring, with clinical efficacy comparable to in-person care. This result is enhanced by the training of primary care professionals through collaborative models and digital training programs. However, its adoption still faces challenges, such as limited technological infrastructure, low adherence among some professionals, difficulty observing nonverbal cues, and issues related to data security. Therefore, the effective integration of telemedicine into primary care proves viable for reducing the gap in mental health treatment and promoting greater equity in access. Furthermore, future research is needed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of this tool, as well as its impact in different contexts and populations. In summary, telemedicine is a promising strategy for strengthening the prevention, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric disorders in primary care, generating benefits for patients, professionals, and health systems
