Abstract: Telemedicine, defined by the WHO as the delivery of healthcare services remotely using communication technologies, gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic. It offers a viable alternative to in-person care, allowing for social distancing and continuity of medical care. This study analyzes the effectiveness and challenges of telemedicine from 2019 to 2024. Results show high efficacy in expanding healthcare access, particularly in remote areas, while reducing costs and no-show rates. Success was noted in pediatrics and palliative care. However, developed nations lead in integration, whereas developing countries face structural barriers and high project failure rates. Technical challenges like physical exam limitations and privacy risks necessitate technologies such as blockchain. Telemedicine is transformative, yet its sustainability requires technological infrastructure and digital inclusion.
