Abstract: This article analyzes the trajectory of indigenous school education in Brazil, focusing on historical processes of cultural resistance, legal achievements, and current challenges. Using a bibliographical approach, the research was developed based on materials available on academic platforms such as Google Scholar and SciELO Library, using works by authors who critically discuss indigenous school education. In light of normative frameworks such as the 1988 Federal Constitution and the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB), the recognition of indigenous schools as intercultural, bilingual, and specific spaces is evident. Despite the advances, obstacles persist related to the training of indigenous teachers, the production of appropriate teaching materials, and the appreciation of traditional knowledge. The role of educational self-management by the communities themselves is highlighted as a strategy for strengthening identity and affirming autonomy. It can be inferred, therefore, that indigenous school education transcends the character of a simple educational policy, configuring itself as a fundamental political and cultural process for the construction of a plural, democratic, and inclusive society.
