LA PLÁSTICA EN GUATEMALA Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA MODERNIDAD
El Centro Cívico construido en 1950, constituye la máxima representación del arte, urbanismo y arquitectura de la modernidad en Guatemala. Su diseño fusiona los conceptos del 8° CIAM y el urbanismo maya, teniendo como principal característica la integración de obras plásticas en sus muros interiores y exteriores.
Esta investigación busca evidenciar el valor excepcional de estas obras como puente histórico entre la cultura prehispánica, la imposición colonial y la modernidad.

Abstract:
The Civic Center built in 1950 constitutes the maximum representation of the art, urban planning and architecture of modernity in Guatemala. Its design merges the concepts of the 8° CIAM and Mayan urbanism, having as main feature the integration of plastic works in its interior and exterior walls.
This research wants to show the exceptional value of these works as an historical bridge between pre-Hispanic culture, colonial imposition and modernity.
