Abstract: The purpose of this research was to identify modifiable factors of overweight in adolescents, having as objectives, to identify eating habits and to identify physical activity. The methodological development of the study was located in the feasible project modality with the support of a descriptive, field study, under a non-experimental quantitative approach of a transversal type, the information was provided by 168 students enrolled in the high school in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the data collection was compiled a form to collect sociodemographic information of the participants which includes six items. (Frequency of foods of daily consumption, practice of physical exercise, knowledge of risk factors attributable to the development of type 2 diabetes). After analyzing and interpreting the information, the following results emerge: Regarding nutrition, 36.7% eat fruit very frequently, 43.3% eat meat frequently, 33.3% eat candy occasionally, and 50% eat fast food occasionally. Regarding physical activity, 46.7% walk very frequently, 30% run frequently, 40% play sports, 90% have never done yoga, and 63.3% have a hereditary factor. This leads to the conclusion: Many modifiable risk factors affect overweight in adolescents, which is a complicated issue. A comprehensive approach that integrates media regulations, school interventions, education, and public policies is necessary to address these elements.
