Abstract: Introduction: Voluntary internships represent a valuable opportunity in medical education by concretely and humanely integrating theory and practice. By engaging in healthcare services at a gynecologic cancer prevention clinic, students deepen their understanding of the physician's ethical and social responsibilities. This report shares the experience gained at a reference hospital, highlighting the educational impact of this experience. Objective: To report the experience of a voluntary internship at a cervical and vulvar cancer prevention clinic and its importance in shaping the medical student as a general practitioner. Experience Report: This report describes the experience of a medical student during a non-mandatory extracurricular internship held from January 13 to January 17, 2025, at a hospital located in Jaú-SP, totaling 40 hours. The internship was supervised by a faculty member specialized in gynecology and obstetrics. Discussion: During the voluntary internship at the Lower Genital Tract Pathology Clinic of Hospital Amaral Carvalho, the medical student closely observed the care provided to women with precancerous cervical and vulvar lesions. The clinic, which receives about 15 to 20 patients per day from Jaú and neighboring towns, stood out for its organization and efficiency in case management. The student took part in procedures such as colposcopies, biopsies, and cytopathological exams, experiencing firsthand the importance of secondary screening and humanized care. The experience was especially meaningful due to the student's intended specialization in the field, contributing to the development of essential generalist medical competencies such as empathy, active listening, autonomy, and critical thinking. Moreover, it reinforced theoretical knowledge acquired during medical school and emphasized the importance of prevention and equitable access to healthcare.
