Abstract: This research examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a motivational tool in the teaching English process at the upper-secondary level, focusing on students from the Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Agropecuario No. 61. The study addresses a persistent educational challenge in Mexico: low performance and lack of motivation among students learning English as a foreign language. These difficulties are attributed to limited prior exposure to the language, insufficient articulation between educational levels, and the scarce use of innovative and interactive didactic resources. Grounded in sociocultural constructivism, particularly Vygotsky’s theories, the research conceptualizes AI as a mediating tool capable of providing cognitive scaffolding, adaptive feedback, and personalized learning experiences. Tools such as AI-powered chatbots, virtual assistants, and digital platforms offer opportunities to enhance learner autonomy, engagement, and communicative competence. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporates surveys, diagnostic and summative assessments, and a didactic plan integrating diverse AI tools. Student satisfaction and perceived usefulness of each tool are also evaluated. The study aims to determine the advantages and challenges of using AI in English language teaching and to identify which tools foster higher motivation. Expected outcomes suggest that AI enhances academic performance and student involvement, promoting meaningful learning experiences within English language education.
