Abstract: Ankle sprain is one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries in women’s soccer, leading to functional impairments and reduced athletic performance. Range of motion (ROM), particularly dorsiflexion, plays a crucial role in joint stability and postural control during high-intensity sports activities. This study aimed to analyze, through an integrative literature review, the relationship between ankle range of motion and the risk of sprain in female soccer players. Searches were conducted in the PubMed, SciELO, and LILACS databases using descriptors in Portuguese and English combined with Boolean operators. The results indicated that limited ROM is associated with an increased risk of sprain and chronic instability, which may be worsened by muscle imbalances, proprioceptive deficits, and previous injury history. Training programs based on visual and auditory feedback, combined with corrective and strengthening exercises, proved effective in improving dorsiflexion, proprioception, and balance, thereby reducing the incidence of new injuries. It is concluded that maintaining and enhancing ROM should be considered key strategies in ankle sprain prevention and in promoting joint stability among female athletes.
