A IMPORTÂNCIA DA GEMOLOGIA NA ICONOGRAFIA CAPIXABA

A arte sempre foi um aspecto decisivo sobre a construção da identidade cultural capixaba, e a iconografia é a tradução dos símbolos que narram o passado e revelam a religiosidade de um povo. Diante disso, este artigo propõe uma interpretação da relevância da gemologia na construção dos símbolos da iconografia capixaba. Para tanto, tomamos como referência o Convento da Penha, maior símbolo religioso e turístico do Espírito Santo. O objetivo geral é criar um adereço pessoal inspirado por este símbolo. Dentre os objetivos específicos, pode-se citar: identificar os elementos simbólicos relacionados ao Convento da Penha, escolher gemas capixabas que reflitam esses significados e aplicar técnicas gemológicas para que esses símbolos se tornem uma joia. O método, por sua vez, é qualitativo e bibliográfico, e foi aplicado em laboratórios de identificação e caracterização de gema e de design e montagem de Joias. O resultado é uma medalha em prata 950, adornada com água-marinha e quartzo rosa, representando no entanto, o próprio morro e a imagem de N.Senhora da Penha. Portanto, conclui-se que a gemologia; ao ser aplicada no design de joias com identidade regional; pode ser utilizada para fortalecer a memória cultural; valorizar o turismo religioso e popularizar o conhecimento científico relacionado às gemas.

  • Abstract: Art has always been a decisive aspect in the construction of the cultural identity of Espírito Santo, and iconography is the translation of symbols that narrate the past and reveal the religiosity of a people. Therefore, this article proposes an interpretation of the relevance of gemology in the construction of symbols of Espírito Santo iconography. To this end, we take as a reference the Convento da Penha, the greatest religious and tourist symbol of Espírito Santo. The general objective is to create a personal adornment inspired by this symbol. Specific objectives include: identifying the symbolic elements related to the Convento da Penha, selecting gemstones from Espírito Santo that reflect these meanings, and applying gemological techniques to transform these symbols into jewelry. The method, in turn, is qualitative and bibliographical and was applied in gem identification and characterization laboratories, as well as jewelry design and assembly. The result is a 950 silver medal, adorned with aquamarine and rose quartz, representing the hill itself and the image of Our Lady of Penha. Therefore, it is concluded that gemology, when applied to the design of jewelry with regional identity, can be used to strengthen cultural memory, promote religious tourism, and popularize scientific knowledge related to gemstones.
