Abstract: Throughout the history of Soviet psychology, it is possible to identify several moments of both theoretical and practical advances and setbacks. A science grounded in Marxist principles only began to develop after the October Revolution of 1917. However, its formulation underwent several political phases. In this sense, the aim of this paper is to present how Stalinist discourse became embedded in the history of Soviet psychology during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. In order to fulfill this objective, I provide a brief historical overview of the development of Soviet psychology and its interdependence with Marxism, while simultaneously demonstrating how authors creatively produced their work through this worldview. Subsequently, I present the criticisms faced by theorists such as Sergei Leonidovich Rubinstein (1889–1960) in a period of repression following the Second World War. Finally, I highlight how the anti-Marxist fallacy appeared throughout the works of Soviet psychology and, at the same time, how Soviet psychologists managed to circumvent censorship in their writings.
