A ESCOLA NATURALISTA E AS CIÊNCIAS DA LINGUAGEM: DUELOS E DEBATES
Ao longo da história da Linguística, o
Naturalismo não despertou muito interesse nos
estudiosos da linguagem, relegando a tal teoria
certo anonimato. O Naturalismo objetivava
formar uma ciência da linguagem, pautada
nas premissas do botânico Charles Darwin,
aproximando as ideias naturalistas dos estudos
linguísticos. O contexto que se apresenta traz um
pensamento científico sobre a linguagem sendo
desenvolvido e que auxilia na compreensão
da constituição da ciência linguística, quando
uma história paralela a que ficou famosa – a
de Saussure – também estava em construção.
Objetivamos compreender essa etapa
epistemológica na constituição da Linguística
na qual houve um duelo entre a concepção
de língua defendida pelos naturalistas de um
lado e, de outro lado, a língua enquanto um
sistema estruturado defendida por Saussure e
seus contemporâneos. Para compreender essa
problemática, buscamos respaldo na Análise do
Discurso de orientação francesa, mobilizando
conceitos como discurso, história e sujeito.

Abstract:
Throughout the history of
Linguistics, the Naturalism did not arouse much
interest in the students of language, relegating
to that theory certain anonymity. The Naturalism
aimed to form a science of language, based on
the premises of the botanist Charles Darwin,
bringing naturalistic ideas closer to linguistic
studies. The context that presents brings a
scientific thought about the language being
developed and that helps in the understanding
of the constitution of the linguistic science, when
a parallel history to that became famous - from
Saussure - was also under construction. We
aim to understand this epistemological stage
in the constitution of Linguistics in which there
was a duel between the conception of language
defended by naturalists on one side and, on the
other side, language as a structured system
defended by Saussure and his contemporaries.
To understand this problem, we seek support in
French Discourse Analysis, mobilizing concepts
such as discourse, history and subject.
