Abstract: Zoobiquity and comparative oncology are multidisciplinary areas that have been expanding in recent years, as they study the risks of neoplasms and their development in different species, with the aim of expanding the knowledge of these diseases. Canine cancers are considered physiopathologically and clinically equivalent to humans, occurring spontaneously. Breast cancer represents the most hegemonic cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The study of neoplasms is of great relevance in both human and veterinary medicine due to the worrying increase in their incidence in recent decades. Thus, the general objective of this study was to identify morphologies and quantities of breast tumors in dogs and women and to correlate breast tumors in the same species, in addition to verifying and validating, or not, the concept of sentinel model in dogs with breast neoplasms. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, developed from January to June 2020, using 85 records and histopathological reports of biopsy of mammary gland tumors in dogs, from two private veterinary clinics in Patos de Minas / MG. Within the neoplastic changes, 21 were benign (24.70%) and 53 were malignant (62.35%). The most prevalent neoplasm was simple carcinoma (41.50%), followed by complex carcinoma (24.53%). Regarding benign tumors, the prevalence of mixed benign tumors was observed. The hypothesis of the dog as a sentinel animal for breast tumors in women has not been validated, as there was no correlation between dogs with tumors and their respective tutors.
