Abstract: The emergence of antidepressant medications brought a historic evolution to mental health, its evolution increased the chances of recovery of recovered patients and recurrence rates of the disease. According to the WHO, studies revealed that in the periods prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 300 million people suffered from some type of mental disorder. In 2022, a scientific summary was published that estimated that the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase of approximately 27.6% in cases of depressive disorder and a 25.6% increase in cases of anxiety disorder, which makes psychopathology a serious public health problem that must be closely monitored by professionals in the segment. The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of treatment for sleep disorders and pharmacological treatment with ZOLPIDEM and the fundamental role of the clinical pharmacist in monitoring and pharmacological treatment in controlling anxiety disorder and lack of sleep. Data collection was carried out in databases: PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar, VHL regional portal, as well as websites such as the World Health Organization and Pan-American Health Organization and academic books on pharmacology. It was possible to conclude that it is extremely important to monitor the medication in the treatment, as it has the possible qualifications to guarantee the patient's quality of life, as well as assisting doctors in making decisions about the best treatment, with a view to focusing on focus on a multidisciplinary team in the hospital setting, and the correct guidance of other pharmacists, as well as the constant search and discovery of new antipsychotics, is necessary to guarantee the health and well-being of patients affected by the disease.
