Abstract: This article presents the findings of a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach, aimed at understanding the experiences, tensions, and coping strategies of university students with hearing disabilities and their families in the context of higher education. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews and focus groups with students and family members, using thematic analysis techniques that led to the identification of five core dimensions: psychological and emotional implications, reconfiguration of family roles, structural tensions in the university environment, uncertainties around autonomy and labor insertion, and pedagogical practices that fluctuate between exclusion and inclusive innovation. The results indicate that hearing disability in higher education cannot be addressed solely through technical adjustments or compensatory measures. Instead, it requires a comprehensive understanding that integrates emotional, familial, institutional, and pedagogical dimensions. The most persistent barriers are not only physical or technological, but rather attitudinal and cultural, requiring structural transformations in academic practices and inclusive policies. The study concludes that truly inclusive higher education must be based on the recognition of diversity as a value, political commitment from institutions, shared family responsibility, and pedagogical sensitivity in order to foster more equitable, accessible, and humane learning environments.
