Abstract: Introduction: In megacolon caused by Chagas disease, we can find abdominal distension, fecaloma, intestinal occlusion/subocclusion and sigmoid volvulus (JÚNIOR, 2002). In the literature, little is explored about the relationship between Chagas disease and intestinal volvulus. Objective: To review the relationship between volvulus and Chagas disease. Result: Megacolon, known for increasing the diameter of the colon, may undergo rotation around its own axis and may or may not suffer from strangulation, leading to mesenteric ischemia and, given our results, Chagas disease is a risk factor for this. rotation (GABRIEL, 2003). Conclusion: Every patient with suspected obstruction should undergo a proctosigmoidoscopy (BAYLÃO, 2016).
