Abstract: This study investigates the lived experiences of single mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), focusing on their mental, emotional, and financial well-being. We aimed to identify the challenges they face, explore post-diagnosis perceptions, collect netnographic evidence from spontaneous online accounts, and map coping strategies. Two methods were employed: (1) netnography of archived posts from social networks without direct interaction, and (2) Bardin’s content analysis. Posts retrieved from Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter/X converged on three domains of difficulty: loneliness/lack of support networks, emotional overload, and financial hardship (including barriers to BPC, Brazil’s Continued Benefit). Findings point to economic vulnerability, maternal isolation, and psychological distress, highlighting the need for psychosocial support and public policies responsive to these families’ circumstances.
