Abstract: Objective: To identify the frequency of interpersonal violence against children and the characteristics of cases reported between 2011 and 2018 in the state of Espírito Santo. Method: Descriptive study, carried out with data extracted from the Information System on Notifiable Diseases of the state of Espírito Santo, made available by the State Department of Health. The variable interpersonal violence against children was measured dichotomously (yes/no). The relative and absolute frequencies of the variables were calculated, with their 95% confidence intervals. Statistical tests were performed using Stata 14.1. Results: Interpersonal violence against children accounted for 8.5% of notifications in Espírito Santo. Among the victims, there is a greater number of female and black/brown children. The predominant age group was 6 to 9 years old, most children did not have disabilities and most cases occurred in urban areas. Men are the main aggressors, predominantly individuals aged 25 or over. Repeat violence was present in 55.4% of cases and most victims received referrals.
