Abstract: This study examines violence against children and adolescents, framing the family as a space of structural vulnerability. It analyzes how the newspaper Gazeta de Alagoas represents this issue, frequently associating poverty with the root causes of violence in the state of Alagoas. The research highlights the historical and social role of the printed press in shaping public perceptions, often through discourses that stigmatize marginalized communities. Editorial choices and communicative strategies in Gazeta de Alagoas appear directed toward readers with greater economic capital, reinforcing symbolic boundaries and contributing to the social distancing of vulnerable families. The analysis is grounded in theoretical perspectives from van Dijk, Foucault, and Bourdieu, focusing on the intersections between media discourse, power structures, and family dynamics. The study also explores the complexity of intrafamilial relations, which are shaped by historical, cultural, and socioeconomic factors that contribute to the invisibility and marginalization of specific groups. By doing so, it aims to foster critical reflection on media portrayals of domestic violence and their broader implications for public debate, historical memory, and the development of child protection policies within the Brazilian social welfare system.
