Abstract: This article examines violence against women in Brazil, highlighting its connection to entrenched patriarchal culture and legislative efforts to combat it. The objective is to discuss the most prevalent types of violence, physical, psychological, sexual, moral, and patrimonial, and evaluate the effectiveness of Law No. 11,340/2006, Maria da Penha Law, in addressing these issues. The methodology combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing bibliographic research and analysis of secondary data from sources such as IPEA and the Brazilian Public Security Forum. The findings indicate that patriarchy, intersected with racism and socioeconomic inequalities, perpetuates the cycle of violence, with notable underreporting of cases and heightened vulnerability among Black women. Despite advances driven by the Maria da Penha Law, such as increased reporting and protective measures, challenges like limited implementation effectiveness and cultural resistance persist, requiring intersectional policies and anti-patriarchal education to break the cycle of violence.
