VERTICALIZAÇÃO À FRANCESA NO RIO DE JANEIRO: O caso do edifício Tamandaré
No limiar século XX, a cidade do Rio de Janeiro experimentava uma expansão territorial e surgiam novas formas de habitar decorrentes, entre outras, das possibilidades construtivas viabilizadas pelo técnica construtiva do concreto armado e da ressignificação da ideia de habitar coletivamente. Os palacetes urbanos, moradia da elite carioca de então, foram aos poucos sendo substituídos por edifícios residenciais, que se remetiam a estilos europeus na busca de distanciamento da conotação negativa dos cortiços. O edifício Tamandaré, situado no bairro do Flamengo, é um dos exemplares construído na cidade naquele momento. Suas características buscam retratar o status e o estilo de vida da alta burguesia carioca da época, que respirava e vivia a cultura francesa. Seu projeto se referência na organização espacial e na linguagem haussmaniana, que por sua vez absorveu muitos elementos dos hôtels particuliers franceses. Verifica-se a materialização desse modo de habitar na proporção e na composição da fachada principal, bem como na setorização dos ambientes internos dos apartamentos, na sua tectônica e nos seus ricos ornamentos de inspiração Art Déco. Confirma-se assim, que o período de sua concepção e construção coincide com o de inovações em diversas esferas de uma sociedade que buscava referências culturais internacionais.

Abstract:
At the threshold of the 20th century, the city of Rio de Janeiro was experiencing a territorial expansion and new forms of living arose, arising, among others, from the construction possibilities made possible by the reinforced concrete construction technique and the redefinition of the idea of living collectively. The urban palaces, home to the then Rio elite, were gradually replaced by noble residential buildings that referred to European styles.The Tamandaré Building, located in the Flamengo neighborhood, is one of the examples of luxury architecture built in the city at that time. Its characteristics seek to portray the status and lifestyle of the high bourgeoisie of Rio de Janeiro at the time, which breathed and lived French culture. His project is a reference in the spatial organization and in the haussmanian language, which in turn absorbed many elements of the French hôtels particuliers. There is a materialization of this way of living in the proportion and composition of the main facade, as well as in the sectorization of the interiors of the apartments, in their tectonics and in their rich Art Déco inspired ornaments. Thus, it is confirmed that the period of its conception and construction coincides with that of innovations in different spheres of a society that sought international cultural references.
