• Abstract: Objectives: To understand the impact of nursing intuition on promoting the safety of individuals in critical situations. Methods: Integrative literature review with research conducted in June 2023 on 4 databases (Cinahl, Medline, Scopus, and Google Scholar). Results: The results of this study address the components of Nursing Intuition Theory (Valenzuela, 2019), namely, environment (internal and external variables; events and problems), nurse-patient relationship and holistic nursing interventions, patient health needs and clinical situation, positive health outcomes, and nurse's intuitive ability. It is also possible to identify in the results the recommended educational approaches to promote nursing intuition. Conclusion: Developing intuitive ability is crucial given its importance in patient safety. This capacity not only complements technical and scientific knowledge but also enables nurses to quickly identify warning signs and make assertive decisions in complex and unpredictable situations. By promoting the development of this skill, we can significantly improve the quality of care provided, thus ensuring a safer environment.
