Abstract: Linguistic variation can be found through the semantic, phonological part, and even in the grammatical structure itself; the sociolinguistic phenomenon in question can be seen as a huge problem for some speakers, especially when there is a distancing from the standard norm, thus generating the so-called linguistic prejudice; In this view, in order to show the importance of the sociolinguistic study, based on the analysis of linguistic-grammatical phenomena and linguistic variation, the objective is to analyze the song “Zaluzejo” (2003) by the Teatro Magico troupe, set to music and composed by Fernando Antinelli. The song presents the story of a woman named Raimunda who, even saying “wrong” according to the standard norm, is considered a great poet for reinventing words. The analysis focused on factors internal and external to the language, which influenced the speech of the woman used in the song. It was intended to enable sociolinguistic reflections, whose purpose is to soften the dissemination of linguistic prejudice in society. We sought to point out possible methodological strategies regarding the use of the song “Zaluzejo” in the classroom, thus aiming at a respectful school environment among all members. Theoretical support is given through the studies undertaken by Bortoni-Ricardo (2004), Bagno (2007) and Labov (2008).
