Abstract: The research has the objective of validating ultraviolet index data obtained from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) for the Puno region, for which the analysis of data from two DAVIS Vantege Pro 2 Plus weather stations, located in the city of Juliaca, is carried out. and Puno, considering the data from the city of Puno the most appropriate because it presents a lower degree of dispersion due to cloudy and partly cloudy days considered for the year 2018. The comparison of UV index data from the Puno station and those obtained from OMI showed a linear correlation of 0.932 and an overestimation of the values estimated by the OMI data, for which the data correction equation is formulated based on the linear regression of both data, to analyze the data of the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 finding biases less than 1.568 and linear correlation greater than 0.848. The evolution of the UV index shows a clear seasonal behavior in the two locations, both for soil and satellite data, with maximum values in summer (December and January) and minimum values in winter (June and July). The validation results show a good correlation between the satellite data and the ground-based measurements, although those from the OMI overestimate those from ground instruments.
