UTILIZAÇÃO DO GENGIBRE (Zingiber officinale) NO TRATAMENTO DE PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS
O câncer é uma enfermidade que abrange a população mundial, os diversos tipos de tratamentos podem afetar o estado nutricional do paciente por apresentar alterações metabólicas ao organismo. O tratamento do câncer engloba: cirurgia, radioterapia e quimioterapia. Náuseas, vômitos, estomatite, mucosite são alguns dos sintomas decorrentes desses tratamentos. Assim, o objetivo do presente estudo é analisar os efeitos da utilização do Zingiber officinale (gengibre) em pacientes oncológicos submetidos ao tratamento quimioterápico. A metodologia utilizada será revisão de literatura dos últimos vinte anos, tendo como base de dados Pubmed, Lilacs, Bireme, Scielo nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. A desnutrição calórico proteica em indivíduos com câncer é comum e está relacionada a progressão da doença aos efeitos do tratamento como a redução do apetite, disfagia, alterações no paladar, náuseas, vômitos, diarreias. O gengibre, possui componente conhecido como [6]-gingerol que possui atividades antieméticas, antiinflamatórias e espasmolíticas, auxiliando, desta forma, no tratamento de pacientes oncológicos tratados com quimioterapia, reduzindo a incidência de sintomas como náuseas e vômitos.

Abstract:
Cancer is a disease that covers the world population, the various types of treatments can affect the nutritional status of the patient by presenting metabolic changes to the body. The treatment of cancer includes: surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, mucositis are some of the symptoms resulting from these treatments. Thus, the objective of the present study is to analyze the effects of the use of Zingiber officinale (ginger) on cancer patients submitted to chemotherapy. The methodology used will be literature review of the last twenty years, based on Pubmed, Lilacs, Bireme, Scielo in the Portuguese, English and Spanish languages. Caloric protein malnutrition in individuals with cancer is common and is related to disease progression to treatment effects such as reduced appetite, dysphagia, changes in taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Ginger has a component known as [6] -gingerol that has antiemetic, anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic activities, thus helping in the treatment of cancer patients treated with chemotherapy, reducing the incidence of symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.
