Abstract: ABSTRACT: Hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism are linked with several physiological and hormonal disturbs, mainly with cardiovascular deficiencies. They are also related to sedentary lifestyle. Regular physical exercise practice is proven to prevent and treat cardiovascular conditions, and could be an ally on the course of treatment in hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism, even avoiding the evolution from the subclinical state to the disease itself. To the best of our knowledge, there is still no systematic reviews regarding the use of physical exercise as possible treatment for hypothyroidism and/or subclinical hypothyroidism. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of physical exercise as a treatment for hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism through a systematic literature review. The search was conducted on the main databases for medicine and exercise science, being CENTRAL, Pubmed, Sports Discuss and Scielo, crossing the terms “hypothyroidism” and “Subclinical Hypothyroidism” with “Physical Exercise”, “Physical Activity”, “Resistance Training”, “Aerobic Training” and “Musculation”, both in English and Portuguese. Only Randomized or quasi-Randomized Controlled Trials were accepted. The present findings showed that evidences regarding the use of physical exercise as treatment for hypothyroidism and/or subclinical hypothyroidism and scarce and of very low quality. More is presented and discussed regarding each outcome found.
